The daughter of a doctor, she was born in the United States and raised by her American mother and Irish father. When she was only three years old, Megan met her future husband who was also an actor.
She is married to Josh Gartner of New York City, which is where they live today. She is now divorced from her first husband Scott Devendorf. Her two sons are Noah, 11, and Hayes, eight. They have two older daughters together named Erin, six, and Jael, five. Meanwhile, Megan and Josh live in Los Angeles together with their children.
When asked about being an actress, she replied that acting is one of the most popular things you can do in Hollywood. “When I have an idea for a character, I immediately figure out how to get my character onto the screen. There’s no set way to reach the part. You just have to try. If the script is compelling, then it will get made.”
She has been nominated over 100 times for the Academy Award for Best Picture and more than 15 times for awards in other categories. In 2012, she received a Primetime Emmy nomination for playing Kat Howard in the television drama series Nashville. This season of her career included starring as Anne Boleyn, Queen Elizabeth I and Lady Danbury among others. Notable roles include portraying Juliet Taylor in Shakespeare In Love, a young woman in Harry Potter and the Prisoner Of Azkaban, a wealthy lady, Emma Portman, Alice in Borderland, Miss Trunchbull, Elisabeth Moss, Samara Weaving and many others.
She has appeared on several TV shows including Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, Law & Order, How I Met Your Mother, Suits, Quantico, Heroes, Parenthood, Gilmore Girls, House of Cards, Parks and Recreation and many others. An episode from this year sees her reprising her role as Olivia Quinn opposite Julia Hart in True Blood. In between shoots, she has worked on some Broadway stage productions. And she is working at Warner Brothers to provide voiceover playback for films starring Denzel Washington.
She got her start by landing the lead role in a play written by her uncle in 1999. It ran in London in 2004 but did not go well because of its time period. Then she had a role as a teenager which turned into a movie version. Finally she won a Tony in 2006 in Chicago.
Currently, she is filming a new film called Dune. It is based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name. On July 10th, she announced that the release date would be August 13th 2017. Fans can look forward to seeing her again as Lady Danbury in the prequel to Westside Story. Also, there will be another story as Ann Boleyn. However, there will be an additional feature film due to production delays so fans are not disappointed.
Hermes is represented by UTA and YoungWink. A rep representative for Gartner told me the role of Olivia Quinn is currently under development. “She will be much more than Quinn.”
In addition to her acting career, Megan is involved in directing and producing several projects.
“I love working, but it isn’t always easy. Working requires energy and focus. So sometimes you need a few hours during the day.”
She has found her niche in helping people to find jobs and building confidence for themselves, especially women, through social media. With this project Megan hopes to give back a little bit to those who want to help others. People have often suggested that she is doing great work, and to prove them wrong. This project could also be helpful for those who do not have any job experience and would like to start their own business.
